Project history
This yearbook was created for UNI.xyz which is a web platform for design community. It has been organizing design challenges in an attempt to crowd-source design solutions.
In 2019, we decided to compile some of the best projects we received till Dec 2018 as an yearbook. This yearbook was first in series created to serve as a source of inspiration for young and aspiring designers. It included award winning projects in field of Architecture, Urban, Product, Interaction & Brand design.

Challenges
The submissions we received varied largely in terms of design and layout ranging from highly dense portrait sheets to loosely organized landscape. Thus, it was a big challenge to unify those projects in single layout ensuring the consistency of the book as a whole.
My role
I also designed cover of the book and some of my illustrations were featured on introduction pages.
I received help from other team-mates in refining the text and proofreading.
I was responsible for collecting and sorting data for the book, organizing book structure, crafting layouts and finalizing the composition.
Design
The projects varied heavily in terms of composition, layout, use of fonts, colour scheme and content density. The layouts were designed to flexibly accommodate all such variations while maintaining the collective uniformity. A layout system having 3 and 4 grid sheets was adopted. Extra Inner margin were provided to ease stitching while binding pages.
The design for cover was inspired from picture frame and created with text deformation.
The book was delivered to the readers in a custom designed box made of 3mm thick MDF. The cuts were designed such that it could work as open-able flap without the need of hinges.
Final outcome
Responses
This book was very well received by the readers and paved way for future version of yearbooks. Some customers even took it to their social media channels to tell us they were delighted with what they received.

Self reflection
Looking back, I should have opted for portrait orientation given the number of pages as landscape layout is bit difficult to read while holding. Thus, next yearbook is planned in portrait format.
Upon success of first version of book, I proposed these cover design are for year 2020 yearbook. The idea of typography art is maintained from original cover design.
